In your pouch

Recently Deleted and Tidy Up

What you delete waits 30 days on every Mac, and Tidy Up finds what you no longer need.

Delete something

Press ⌘⌫ on a row in the panel, or choose Delete in the window. Deleting doesn’t ask: the notice that confirms it has Undo, and the thing moves to Recently Deleted on every Mac.

Recently Deleted

Recently Deleted is in the window. A thing waits there for 30 days, with when and on which Mac it was deleted, and then it’s removed for good on every Mac.

  • Put Back returns it to your pouch, as it was.
  • Delete Now removes it for good at once, and asks for Touch ID first. So does emptying Recently Deleted.

While a thing waits there, its sealed copy is still in your iCloud. Delete Now when you want it gone sooner.

Tidy Up

When your pouch is getting full, Tidy Up… in the window suggests what you might not need:

  • things you haven’t copied in 90 days,
  • things that have expired,
  • the same value tucked in twice.

Nothing is deleted until you choose, and what you delete goes to Recently Deleted like anything else.

Deleting a key from your pouch doesn’t change it where it was issued. If a key should stop working, revoke it at the service that issued it.
